A Pioneering Beginning
Our owners Mustafa and Sengül Seyfi are passionate about wine. They started Wine Masters Cyprus with one aim: to produce world-class wines in Cyprus.
In the 1990’s, together with the help of Keith Grainger, an international wine consultant, our first sites in Geçitköy and Güzelyurt were located and analysed as the best ‘terroir’ for planting our Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay varieties. The vines have been lovingly cultivated from the finest cuttings available, pruned with care and to this day, the harvest is hand-picked by local people, providing seasonal employment in the vineyards and winery.
Produced in North Cyprus
In 2004 the first wines were produced and Chateau St Hilarion was born. By following traditional methods, utilising the best European practises in a Cypriot landscape and ageing in barrels to maximise quality, the brand Chateau St Hilarion quickly became well-known within the hospitality industry to be an exceptional wine made in Cyprus.
Expert International Winemakers
Mustafa Seyfi is a Cypriot entrepreneur with over 40 years experience in the food and hospitality industry who has a huge passion for making wine. Mustafa set out on his wine journey in the mid 1990s and founded Wine Masters Cyprus with his wife Sengül in the year 2000 after completing his wine qualifications. Now recognised as an expert winemaker, Mustafa enjoys the practical side of turning well pruned vines into beautiful handcrafted quality wines.
Keith Grainger, a very experienced wine writer, broadcaster, educator and consultant winemaker is a founder of the Association of Wine Educators. His knowledge of the world’s wine regions and passion for individual, exciting wines help make his works so highly informative. Over the past 20 years, Keith has made regular trips to Cyprus to work together with Mustafa to produce great quality wines.
“Wearing so many hats helps me see the wine world from all perspectives”, he comments. His book ‘Wine Quality Tasting and Selection’ won the Gourmand Award for the Best Wine Education Book in the World in the last 20 years.
An Exciting New Venture
Already renowned for producing the first and the best wines in North Cyprus, the Seyfi family set sights on their next challenge - creating spirits by the same standards of their wines. In 2018 the building of a distillery was commissioned to enable them to distil alcohol to create a wide variety of spirits - from whisky, vodka and gin to locally-loved zivania and raki.
In 2019 under the new brand Copper Isle Distillery, the first trial batch of gin was made and reviewed by an international tasting panel – comments included: ‘beautifully smooth’, ‘stunning flavours’ and ‘in the same league as well known top quality gins’. Copper Isle GIn will be brought into production in the very near future and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Our products are sustainably crafted in every way possible - from using organic fertilisers and recycling organic waste and water to underplanting the vineyards to encourage beneficial insects and creating water retention systems. We believe in being kind to the land for it will take care of us in return.
